Formula One World Championship
The shocking remains of the Hill GH1 of Rolf Stommelen (GER) are removed following his massive accident, triggered by a broken rear wing whilst leading the race on lap 26, that sent him clear of the barrier and tragically killed five spectators. Stommelen himself suffered very serious injuries and the race became the first to be stopped and declared a half Grand Prix: as less than two-thirds distance had been completed.
Spanish Grand Prix, Montjuich Park, Barcelona, 27 April 1975.
